ICH Impact Case Example: Building the Capacity of Community Health Centers to Engage in Research and Evaluation
In collaboration with the Harvard Catalyst Safety Net Initiative of the Community Health Innovation and Research Program of the Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center, the Institute for Community Health led the development and implementation of a two year research infrastructure building initiative at three Massachusetts community health centers. ICH provided individual mentorship and training to provider and staff champions to build both their individual research capacity and support organizational research infrastructure development. As a result of this Initiative, providers successfully implemented research projects at their sites, institutionalized research promoting activities and infrastructure, initiated new research collaborations with academic partners at Harvard affiliated institutions and championed a research agenda at their health center. Though the initiative has concluded these providers continue to reach out to ICH to collaborate on grant and dissemination opportunities and rely on us as a resource to promote their engagement in research.
