ICH Impact Case Example: Reducing Teen Pregnancy in Massachusetts
ICH serves as the evaluator for the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy Prevention (MATP) Youth First initiative, funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Youth First strives to address critical elements of what young people aged 12-19 in Springfield and Holyoke, MA need to prevent teen pregnancy, including access to comprehensive sexual health information, contraceptives, condoms and quality, youth-friendly reproductive health services.
ICH evaluates the initiative’s effect on outcomes of adolescent access, quality, and clinical care, including assessment of existing infrastructure, organizational capacities and clinical practices. Using a continuous quality improvement (CQI) approach, ICH works with clinics to build their capacity to gather and interpret patient data, utilize data to select best practices, and routinely monitor and evaluate progress toward achieving shared goals.
