ICH collaborates with a variety of partners on disparities projects. Some of our projects include the following:
Technical Assistance Provider for Health Disparities Reduction Initiative
The MA Department of Public Health’s Office of Health Equity has provided grant funding to health care and community-based organizations for its Health Disparities Reduction Initiative since 2007. Since the fall of 2010, ICH has supported grantees in developing sustainable and comprehensive programs to reduce health disparities in the communities they serve. ICH has provided technical assistance on elements critical for promoting lasting change in communities, including the following:
- Engaging in systems thinking to identify and address barriers to change
- Developing strong partnerships within and outside organizations
- Collecting/using data on identified outcomes to improve programs and better serve clients

This unique program was first conceived in 2007 with federal funding from the Office of Minority Health, and is run by the Cambridge Public Health Department. The MHL was developed through a partnership with the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House and the Cambridge Family YMCA, with goals of reducing men’s risk of heart disease, stroke and type II diabetes.
ICH has helped partners develop a mixed-methods evaluation, including collecting pre- and post-program data from participants, assessing their clinical outcomes, and conducting qualitative interviews with men involved in the program to further assess the program’s impact.
