Carolyn Fisher (she/her) is a Research and Evaluation Scientist and the Senior Manager of Learning and Development at the Institute for Community Health. At ICH, Carrie leads applied research and evaluation projects focused on organizing and power building, social determinants of health, and mental and behavioral health. Carrie has a particular interest in trauma and its impact on population health, language justice, equitable evaluation, and deepening participatory methods. In her role as Senior Manager of Learning and Development, she facilitates, teaches, and organizes learning for both ICH staff and non-staff like clients, students, and wider communities.
Carrie earned her PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the City University of New York Graduate Center. Her dissertation, From Incentives to Ayudas, was based on fieldwork in rural Nicaragua and described the history and dynamics of interactions between a community of impoverished, small-scale coffee farmers and the various development agencies that have worked in the area between 1979 and 2006.
