How would you describe your role at ICH?
I’m the Associate Director of ICH. In this role I’m responsible for overseeing organizational operations, including scoping, staffing, finance, administration and other systems. I also serve as the Principal Investigator/Project Director on several projects, and participate in ICH revenue generation efforts.
What is your educational background?
I received my BA in Zoology from Connecticut College and attended the dual social work and public health (MSW/MPH) graduate program at Boston University.
What was your career path before coming to ICH?
I spent a couple of years working in environmental education and a couple more years working with developmentally disabled adults before going to grad school. After grad school I worked in the community benefits department at the Cambridge Health Alliance before moving over to ICH.
What made you decide to come to ICH?
I was interested in ICH’s participatory, community-based approach to evaluation, the wide variety of projects ICH works on, and the opportunity the position brought to develop systems to strengthen ICH as an organization.
What are some projects that you are working on right now?
A lot of my time is spent doing day-to-day management work for ICH. I’m also working on an evaluation of a new federally-funded child mental health project with LUK, Inc, I’m part of evaluation teams for the Lawrence’s Mayor’s Health Task Force and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA Foundation, and I work on planning and evaluation projects with the community benefits departments of the Cambridge Health Alliance and MelroseWakefield Healthcare.
What are your favorite projects topics and why?
I particularly like working on projects focused on immigrant health. I also enjoy working on community assessment and planning projects and with social service agencies and community-based organizations.
What are you most excited about for the future of ICH?
We have a new couple of new staff members joining ICH soon, so I look forward to adding new people to our team. I’m also looking forward to having the opportunity to support COVID-19 focused work, especially in vulnerable communities. I’m also excited to see what new clients and new communities we work with this year.
What are hobbies or things you like to do for fun?
I have a 4 and a 7 year old, so that takes up a lot of my time. I also like to read, cook, and do yoga/pilates/workout videos.
Do you have any plans for the holidays/summer/etc? Anything that you are looking forward to?
I don’t have a lot of plans for this strange summer we’re in, but look forward to being outside and spending time with my kids.
