Evaluation of the Consumer Voices for Innovation 2.0 (CVI 2.0) Program

Community Catalyst’s Center for Consumer Engagement in Health Innovation (the Center) has a grant-making program called Consumer Voices for Innovation 2.0 (CVI 2.0), which funds community-based organizations in seven states. These community-based organizations will work to organize healthcare consumers to advocate for policies and programs that expand how the healthcare sector addresses the social and economic drivers of health. CVI 2.0 builds on the work of CVI 1.0, which demonstrated the power of grassroots organizing in achieving health system change. ICH was hired to evaluate CVI 2.0 to help the Center understand the impact of the program and identify lessons learned and best practices that can inform future programs. Through the evaluation, ICH is helping the Center articulate their theory of change through a logic model, develop evaluation questions and indicators, and collect data through document review, surveys, and interviews.

The Center has used the results from CVI 1.0 to identify the most useful technical assistance topics and to share lessons learned among the grantee cohort. They have also disseminated ICH’s evaluation report to potential future funders and other stakeholders in order to spread knowledge about best practices for organizing consumers around health systems transformation. Similar dissemination strategies will be used for CVI 2.0.
