Psychotropic Medication and Youth in Foster Care Report Receives National Attention

A report co-authored by ICH Senior Scientist Dr. Justeen Hyde for the Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) has garnered national attention for the alarming rates of psychotropic medications prescribed for youth in foster care. For more information, check out e! Science News.

The study itself is available as:

  • a two-page Executive Summary,
  • a Study Report providing an overview of the status of policies and guidelines for psychotropic medication oversight; and descriptions of challenges and innovative solutions implemented by states, or
  • a Study Appendix with descriptions of and links to specific tools developed by states and available online; descriptions of and links to websites of interest; and articles, professional organizations’ policy/position statements, and guidelines.
