Abstract

Funders and stakeholders have increasingly turned to participatory methods as a way to advance equity in evaluation practice. This panel draws on our experience (re)shaping participatory methods at the Institute for Community Health (ICH) by building the capacity of different communities to participate in every phase of a project: from design, to data collection and analysis and meaning-making We share strategies, opportunities, and challenges involved in making the tools of evaluation more accessible to audiences outside of our industry, as well as lessons learned from engaging participants in hybrid virtual and in-person settings. Throughout our session, we also comment on the ways in which traditional administrative constructs on evaluation projects can be at odds with making these efforts truly participatory and community-driven.
