ICH, Brandeis and CMWF Release Report on ACO Transformation at a Safety-Net Hospital

by |

In partnership with colleagues at Brandeis University and the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) and funded by the Commonwealth Fund, ICH completed a case study examining key strategies, progress to date, challenges, and lessons learned throughout the Cambridge Health Alliance’s transformation to an accountable care organization/patient-centered medical home as a safety-net provider system. As part of this case study, extensive document review was conducted by ICH, in addition to individual and site interviews with over 30 CHA leadership and staff.  The case study also included assessment of the external market context and an assesment of per-capita spending for CHA patients in risk contracts before and after global payment (in partnership with analysts at GroupHealth in Seattle).
