The Readying Educators And Developing Young Children for Great Outcomes (READYGO) program aims to improve the equity and quality of early education and care in Massachusetts through designing and testing a professional development opportunity on trauma-informed care for educators, providing support and coaching, and implementing an advocacy agenda for policy change on the state level. ICH is the evaluator for this project funded by the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts and implemented by the Massachusetts Association for Community Action (MASSCAP). The evaluation study is using a quasi-experimental design with intervention and comparison sites, and will incorporate a range of data sources to determine the efficacy of the professional development opportunity in improving educator, child, and classroom-level outcomes. Thus far, we have worked with stakeholders to develop a logic model, research plan, and data collection tools and systems. We have also implemented a survey for early childhood staff in the intervention and comparison groups, facilitated focus groups with teachers and parents, and analyzed these data. The next two years of the program will involve analyzing educator, child, and classroom data and sharing findings to inform intervention refinement as well as advocacy strategies.
